Ramps are the first edible to come up in Vermont. The Winooski River, also known as the Onion River is named for them. I will teach you good foraging etiquette to ensure you understand the rules so that you can ethically find them to pick for you own consumption. I will teach you how to identify them and how to make sure you don’t confuse lookalikes.
During this lesson we will walk in the woods and I will identify all of the beautiful Spring ephemerals, such as trout lily, bloodroot, hepatica and trillium, as well as the wild leek. I will also be sure to point out the wild leek lookalikes such as Lily of Valley and False Hellebore. Bring a friend for free!
Add on option: At my house, we can make some ramp sauce, which is so tasty! Ramps are sweet and oniony. A true Vermont Spring treat! $35
