Q. Do you offer garden planning services?

A. Yes. We offer custom garden planning tailored to your space, soil, sun, and seasonal rhythms. If you’re interested in working together, book a free consultation for 15 minutes to get the ball rolling.

Q. How can I get in touch with you?

A. The best way is to book a consultation with me. For general inquiries, email me at Melissa@lunariaestate.com At this time, I only correspond via email. Q. Do you sell plants or produce?

A. Not at this time. While much of our food and herbs are grown at BB Lane Gardens, they’re for private use and part of our ongoing design and consulting work. Throughout the season, any abundant herbs, flowers and herbs as well as seedling and divisions are offered to those who join the Friends of BB Lane Gardens Membership, which is just $29.99 per month! As a member, you will receive hundreds of dollars in value for this monthly membership fee.

Q. How does the Membership work?

The Membership is a way to do business a little differently. It really is a fantastic value for local community members because you will find over the course of the growing season, you will receive hundreds of dollars worth of flowers, seeds, small batch food, plants and experiences that are not for sale and only offered through membership. You can cancel anytime and it is billed month to month. So if you just want to join for the summer, that is fine! During the Fall, Winter and Spring, there will still be plenty of giveaways and experiences, such as snowshoeing that trails around Lunaria Estate, skiing at BB Lane Gardens and more! Membership is limited to 30 people so that I can ensure the highest level of personal attention and shower my Friends of the Garden with the very most!

Q. What is Lunaria Estate, exactly?

A. Lunaria Estate is both a creative studio for design + planning and my physical home where I practice + share homesteading and food preparation skills. We specialize in land-based design, seasonal living, and writing, rooted in place and intention. It’s a blend of beauty, practicality, and permanence against the filmsy, disposable capitalistic world.

Q. What is BB Lane Gardens?

BB Lane Gardens is a large self seeding + herb garden located on my In-laws property, just down the way from Lunaria Estate, at Lake Iroquois. Their property includes a meandering path through a 5 acre wetland complete with lake and rolling mountain views, as well as many mature garden beds that my in-laws have had built by local landscape firms over the years. Over the summer, join me in the mornings for my famous garden workout or in the afternoon for tea and to pick wild flower bouquets or an evening swim or paddle on Lake Iroquois. A visit to BB Lane will soothe your soul and you will leave feeling refreshed and on top of the world!

Q. Can I hire you to write or consult on a project?

A. Yes. In addition to garden design, we offer writing, content planning, and creative consulting—especially for land-based, organic-living, or mission-driven projects. Reach out and let us know what you’re working on.

What is your collaboration policy?

Lunaria Estate warmly welcomes thoughtful collaborations with aligned individuals, businesses, and organizations. We love partnering on projects related to gardening, sustainable living, intentional design, writing, and seasonal rhythms. If you have an idea for a collaboration, please reach out with clear details of your vision, timeline, and expectations. Collaborations are evaluated based on mutual alignment, scheduling, and capacity. Let’s create something beautiful together.

Q. What zone are you in?

A. Lunaria Estate is positioned right in the middle of a sweeping northern sloped Ridgeline across from Lake Sunset in Hinesburg, Vermont. BB Lane Gardens is down the road, just over the border in Williston, VT. The garden is located next to a wetland overlooking Lake Iroquois. We are firmly in USDA Zone 4b—with a healthy respect for Zone 5a tendencies (for those living closer to Lake Champlain). Our designs are always tailored to what actually thrives here in Vermont with consideration to your light and soil conditions. Forget cookie cutter garden plans or plans laced with plants that won’t thrive here.

Q. What inspires your work?

A. Seasonal shifts, native plants, old gardens, new ideas, family stories, and long walks around the property. Everything we do grows from those quiet, rooted moments.

Q What is your cancellation policy?

A. We understand life happens! If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice will be subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50% of your service cost. We appreciate your understanding—this policy helps us honor everyone’s time.

Q. What are your qualifications?

I coordinated the Williston Community Garden for 5 years, which provided many rich opportunities to work with others. That experience gave me insight and appreciation for all of nuances that gardening encompasses. After that, I completed the UVM Master Gardener course before establishing BB Lane Gardens in 2020.Over the last decade, I have taken many workshops and classes at Railyard Apothecary in Burlington, Vermont, Omega in Rhineback, NY and through many Vermont based individuals sharing their expertise and craft. Learning is a life long lesson and I continue to attend workshops and classes to keep growing my own craft. I am a perfectionist at heart and unwilling to offer anything that I deem less than incredible. With 10 years of dedicating myself to gardening and homesteading, I finally feel confident enough in my own expertise to offer my services to the community. Before, homesteading and gardening became my life’s work, I was a social worker for 10 years after earning my degree in psychology at Vermont State University.

Q. Do you offer sliding-scale pricing?

A. Yes, Lunaria Estate offers sliding-scale spots for lessons, workshops and for access to Friends of BB Lane Garden Membership. Sliding-scale availability is based on financial need, personal circumstances, and our current schedule. If you’d like to discuss a sliding-scale arrangement, please book a free 15 minute consultation—we’ll work together to find a solution that feels fair and supportive.

Q. Are you licensed and insured?

A. Lunaria Estate is a fully registered business and insured. While Vermont does not require specific licensing for garden consulting and planning, we maintain comprehensive liability insurance to ensure peace of mind for all our clients. We take professionalism and your trust seriously.

Q. What is your refund policy?

If you are unsatisfied with the services, I hope that you will communicate that so we can correct the issue and make you happy. If you still are no satisfied, then a refund will be provided.
